In the middle of a high-stakes construction project in Denmark, one of our VIP clients hit a critical snag. The final container of components, shipped all the way from Thailand, had just been opened—and to the crew’s shock, the contents were completely wrong. Unusable. The countdown had started: a seven-day window to replace nearly 22,000 kilos of components or face a performance clause penalty running into seven figures.
With no time to spare, the client sent out urgent calls to some of the biggest names in global logistics. Most took one look at the scale—44 oversized pallets, international origin-to-destination—and replied, “Impossible.”

But then, a new problem surfaced: the original pallet packaging was not certified for air freight. That meant all 44 pallets required steam treatment—an operation that would eat up critical days the customer didn’t have.
Working around the clock, our Asia and U.S. teams collaborated closely with the client’s supply chain and logistics personnel. Together, we found a solution: a replacement batch already packaged and flight-ready in Wenzhou, China.
Obstacle After Obstacle—And a Way Through Each
Getting the freight to fly was one thing. Getting it to fly fast enough was another. Shanghai’s direct flights to Copenhagen were fully booked, and indirect routes wouldn’t make the cut. Add in the five-hour drive from Wenzhou to Shanghai, and the pressure mounted.
So we pivoted. HLS took over trucking operations at origin and rerouted the cargo. We booked direct air freight from Shanghai to Amsterdam, where space was available, and coordinated bonded trucking from Amsterdam to the Denmark site, complete with customs clearance at the border.

The final truckload pulled into the construction site just two hours before the penalty clause would’ve activated. No delays. No penalties. No compromises.
