Today, the US International Trade Commission voted that the US aluminum extrusion industry is not materially injured or threatened with material injury by reason of imports from China, Colombia, Ecuador, India, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam.

While the decision may yet be challenged in court, this is HUGE favorable news for US importers – many of whom have been wrestling with scope issues and the challenges of complying with the overly broad range of products impacted by the preliminary and final decisions of the Commerce Department earlier this year.

The ITC report is not yet available and importers of aluminum should contact their counsel for further guidance, but this means that the compliance nightmare created by this case may end.
