On March 4th, 2025, the first IEEPA 10% tariff on goods from China will take effect.
Just announced at 5:00pm EST today President Trump advised that the additional 10% will now be 20%, but no details/dates or guidance have been published.
Canada and Mexico 25 tariffs also begin March 4th, 2025.
Customs and Border protection has issued guidance and there are no dates other than the tariffs are applicable beginning tomorrow. CSMS#64297292 Mexico and
CSMS#64297449 Canada.
Aluminum & Steel tariffs were reported in ITT today: While the effective date remains uncertain for tariffs on the new steel and aluminum derivatives outside of Chapters 73 and 76 of the tariff schedule — 110 subheadings and 12 subheadings, respectively — the notices say the 19 new subheadings for derivatives in Chapter 76 and the 157 new subheadings in Chapter 73 will face tariffs March 12 under new subheadings 9903.85.07 and 9903.81.90.
The original proclamations, released Feb. 10, had specified that the new aluminum derivatives within Chapter 76 would be subject to tariffs on March 12 but didn’t say the same for steel.
There has been no CSMS or guidance from Customs & Border Protection issued as of this writing.
