Can You Prove Who You Are?
Due to a recent update of the Customs and Border Protection operating system all United States citizens must provide a copy of their Social Security Card, Armed Services Identification Card or copy of correspondence received from either Social Security or I.R.S. that verifies their SS#, as well as a copy of either their passport or drivers license which verifies their date of birth.
Since May of 2005 we have been requesting these from new clients being added to the CBP database, however, this database deactivates information on individuals when there has been no activity after 9-12 months. When we have to go into the system to update it we must, once again, provide these documents to CBP personnel. We can immediately provide the documents if we have them on file, however long established clients who have not provided them in the past must now do so.
CBP will not permit us to make entry if we do not provide these documents.
